Dog sit with Lola and Baby Dog in Marana, AZ

Overview:  We did a short sit for Theresa at her home in Marana, AZ through Trustedhousesitters.

The dogs were lovely.  Lola was a six year old female boxer and Baby Dog was a six year old mix breed.  They were both large but well behaved and loved to be near us.

We had very little communication from Theresa despite repeated attempts from us to do so.  It wasn't until two days before the sit that we talked on the phone for the first time.  The home guide was very sparse and so we had to use our own best judgement on things.  For example, we walked the dogs daily despite nothing written to say so.  They loved it.  The sit also had us be there one more day but after talking with Theresa, she was coming back a day early so we had to adjust our schedule last minute.  Still, we did our usual of leaving the house cleaner than we got it and we did have a good time with the dogs.

Theresa's Review:  "Ed and Jeanne were very prepared and organized. They took very good care of our pups and kept them busy! The house was spotless upon our return. Would absolutely have them again!"  (can see on Trustedhousesitters and references available on request)

Dog sit with Gracie and Cooper in Queen Creek, AZ

Overview:  We did a week long sit for Julie at her home in Queen Creek, CA though Trustedhousesitters.

Gracie and Cooper were brother and sister Yorkie mix dogs that were 6 years old.  They were a lot of fun to sit.  Cooper had a hurt back leg so we weren't able to walk him but Jeanne walked Gracie each morning.

They were really easy to care for and slept with us which wasn't a problem at all.  Julie had a lot of houseplants but we follow instructions well and used a soil moisture device to monitor them and water accordingly.  All of her orchids got misted daily too.

We bonded with Julie like an old friend and hope to see her in future winters too.  We really enjoyed our sit there.

Julie's Review:  "
Jeanne and Ed far exceeded my expectations. If I could give them more stars I would. They took care of my home and, more importantly, my 2 fur babies as if they were their own. I can't stress enough how wonderful it was to get daily pictures of the dogs interacting with Jeanne and Ed, how happy they were and loved on. I told Jeanne that I wished I could clone them and just bring them out of the closet when I needed them! I have made some wonderful friends, too. I will never use anyone else if I can help it. My dogs loved them and miss them already. So respectful of my home. Fantastic!"  (can see on Trustedhousesitters and references available on request)

Cat sit with Ruby in Corona Del Mar, CA

Overview:  We did a nearly two month sit for Ron and Jan at their home in Corona Del Mar, CA through Housesitters of America (our first through this app).

Ruby was a 22-year old cat.  She was still in good health but did sleep the majority of the day and night.  She loved to sit on our laps or in the window where there was sunshine.  We put two towels by the windows and she enjoyed those a lot; so much that Ron and Jan kept them there.

Her routine started at 6am and one of us had to get up and feed her and then be there for some lap time.  After that, she would enjoy the sunshine in the window.  She liked to go outside to potty if it wasn't cold or rainy but she also had a cat box in the spare bathroom that we attended to as well.

Ruby got a lot of lap time from us and she liked to sleep with us too.  We enjoy keeping their routine as consistent as we can.  We had a great time there.  The area is highly coveted and apparently we were selected over more than 30 other applicants!  We had a great time with Ruby.

Review:  "We'd like to publicly thank and recommend Jeanne and Ed as pet/house-sitters. This was our first experience with this type of arrangement and I was a bit anxious, but they are veteran sitters and quickly won our (and cat, Ruby's) confidence. We appreciated receiving their regular updates and photos. They were quick to report and manage all home related issues. In short, Ruby was well cared for, as was our home. We (and especially Ruby) would gladly welcome them back for future sits and whenever they're in Southern California."  (can see on House Sitters of America app, contact provided on request.)

Cat sit with Davina, Santana and Stella in Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco, CA

Overview:  We did a 9 day sit for Raquel in her classic Queen Ann home with her three cats

All three kitties had distinct personalities and were a pleasure to sit.  Stella was a bengal mix and was vocal and very dog-like in her personality.  She liked to be near but not on our lap.  Davina was outside a lot but when she was in, she liked to be on your lap or next to you getting pets.  Santana was the only male and he was a bit more aloof but came around.  He would get some pets but preferred napping away from all the other activity.

Our duties involved letting them out through their cat door once we got a text from the neighbor saying their cat was in.  This would be around 6am.  They usually got fed around 6:30am and then we would open up the closed off cat door for them.  Then, around 5:00pm we would check to make sure they were all in and close up the cat door for the night and send a text to the neighbor so she could let her cat out.  That way, there was no fighting among them.  Beyond that, litter boxes, and mail, it was a very straightforward sit for us and we really enjoyed it.

Review: "Jeanne and Ed were impeccable sitters!! They stayed with my pets for 9 days over the holiday. They sent pics of my kitties everyday and kept me informed. I came home to a flat that has never looked so good!! They were tidy and gracious and the pets never knew I was gone! I would happily have them sit for me again! Thank you Jeanne and Ed!!!"  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Cat sit with Henry and Clara in SW Portland, OR

Overview:  We did a 12 day sit for Jan and Marion in their SW Portland home with their two bengal cats (one of which was blind)

Henry and Clara were a pleasure to sit.  Bengals can be loud and wild but we found them to be fun and unique.  They were loud, but not obnoxious.  They liked to be near us but were not lap cats.  They played a lot and had their own routines.  Clara liked to use her exercise wheel.  We would use our fingers to let her know we were there.  Henry liked to lay on the catscraper at the top.  He also liked to drink from the bathroom sink faucet.  Their feeding schedule was complex but well documented.  We had a lot of packages to manage for the owners including one that required refrigeration but we tend to be home with the pets almost the entire time as we tag team for workouts and store duties.

Review: "
Ed and Jeanne were fabulous pet sitters! They took amazing care of our home - and even more importantly, amazing care of our kitties! Usually, when we return from a trip, our cats scold us for hours. But this time, it was as if we’d never left. The kitties were calm and serene. Ed and Jeanne left our house spotless. The dishwasher was emptied, the linens washed and the bed remade. They kept good communication and sent us lots of photos. It was a real pleasure having them at our house and we would love to host them again!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Dec 2 - Dec 12, 2023

Cat sit with Rip and Rosie in the Multnomah Village area of Portland, OR

Overview:  We did a 10 day sit for Barbara and Mike in Multnomah Village with their two black kitties, Rip and Rosie.

Rip was the more dominant male who at first would hiss at us and swat at us.  That only lasted two days and after that he was all friends.  He loved to be into everything and was around us a lot of the time.  Rip was also the one who got into the most mischief, which was mostly centered around the Christmas tree.  We tried to limit their use of the spray bottle of water but on occasion, he needed to be taught.

Rosie was shyer but she would have her social moments.  Both of them enjoyed sitting somewhere near us for many parts of the day.  Both kitties had allergies and a complex food routine that was fortunately well documented for us.  They used chip activated food units that were pretty neat but Rosie's unit broke and we did everything from downloading the manual to rebooting it to calling the manufacturer but it just didn't work.  Fortunately I was able to repogram Rip's unit for Rosie exclusively and just leave Rosie's broken one for Rip.  That solved the problem temporarily until they could replace it as only Rip tried to get into Rosie's food, not the other way around.

Review:  "
Jeanne & Ed were fantastic! One of our automated pet feeders broke while we were gone. They tried everything to fix it including contacting the manufacturer. They texted to let me know the situation and we came up with a temporary solution. They sent pics of the cats and let us know what they were up to. They stayed until we got home late at night and gave us a rundown of everything.  We would happily have them back again!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Nov 20 - Nov 29, 2023

Cat sit with Bobo Kitty in Lake Oswego, OR

Overview:  We did a 10 day sit for Frances in Lake Oswego for Bobo Kitty who was a older male kitty.  He was a rescue from outdoors in Hawaii and traveled with Frances ever since but was switched to just an indoor kitty.

Frances wanted sitters that spent a lot of time with Bobo and we were a good fit because we do tend to spend the majority of our time at home and even our exercise cycle is staggered so one of us was around nearly all the time.

Bobo was a real sweet kitty.  He like to be vocal, in a good way, and had a specific routine that we followed very closely.  It was fun playing and interacting with him during our stay.  Our house routine was very straightforward and we really enjoyed our sit.  We miss Bobo Kitty1

Review:  "Jeanne & Ed were the best! They gave BoBo the attention he craves for. He is a very social cat & coming home after 10 days away I can tell he was well taken care off. Next year we will be moving to San Clemente,California & would love if jeanne&ed come &house/BoBo sit again!"  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Oct 15 - Nov 16, 2023

Cat sit with Oscar and Honey Bee in West Linn, OR

Overview:  We did a month long with for Dave and Tamara, who are friends of ours, at their home in West Linn, OR.  Oscar we knew from before but Honey Bee was new to us.  Both of their cats were social and friendly.

We had play times, pet times, and they were free to come and go through the kitty doors too.  The weather started turning and so they tended to stay inside a lot during our stay.  We had a wonderful time with both of them and got to enjoy some local hiking near their home on occasion.

We also did more than we normally sign up for on yard work.  It was peak season for falling leaves and evergreen needles and so the mowing, blowing and raking was needed to keep up.

As this was just for friends, we didn't ask for a formal review although they are happily available as references (as all our sits have been).

Oct 13 - Oct 15, 2023

Dog sit with Josie in Vancouver, WA

Overview:  We did a short 3 day sit for David and Diane at their home in the North Vancouver area near Salmon Creek.  Josie was a 4-year old labradoodle who has some medical conditions.  She gets seizures and has some skin hot spots.  We got trained on the process for seizures but fortunately didn't have to implement them as she was fine during our stay. We took her for twice daily walks, once for her to sniff and explore and once to get some mileage through the abundant trails nearby.  As we always use our SUV for sits, we were also able to give David and Diane a trip to the airport and back, saving them the cost of airbnb.

Review: "Jeanne and Ed were wonderful dog/house sitters, and warm, caring, thoughtful, gracious, and interesting people. They were kind enough to give us a ride to and from the airport, and our pup hardly seemed to notice when we left, she was already so comfortable with them. They gave her 2 walks a day, one at her sniffing pace, and another 2 miler, along with all the snuggles and love she could handle. Don't hesitate to host them if you can get into their schedule!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Sep 23 - Oct 6, 2023

Dog sit with Oby in Portland, OR

Overview:  We did a two week sit for Steven and Nate at their home in the Multnomah area of Portland, OR.  Their dog, Oby, was a labradoodle who was 4-years old.  We had to opportunity to come a day early and familiarize ourself with the routine of the house and Oby and to get to know him.  He turned out to be such a sweet boy.  We took him on daily hikes at the nearby nature park trails and even on a couple of car rides.  He loved to play ball and I would even have to say "ball tired" and give him a rest because he just loved fetching his ball inside.  He had good manners and ate well.  We were warned that he had a reputation for counter surfing for food but we were careful and he never got into any trouble.

Review:  "
Ed and Jeanne were amazing. They took care of our home and dog for two weeks, and they were clean, responsive and reliable. We can’t recommend them highly enough!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Sep 15 - Sep 22, 2023

Dog and Horse Sit with Finley, Riley and Prince in the countryside outside of the Bethany area of Portland, OR (second sit)

Overview:  We had another week at our friend Jen Hagel's home to watch her two dogs and horse.  We did our first formal sit with her last spring.  This time around the weather was warmer and dryer and so we could spend more time outside with them.  Prince (the horse) had a more complex feeding recipe this time around but after a couple of times we had it down as a team and could do it in around 10 minutes.  After that, we did our usual activities with Finley and Riley.  We had another successful and fun time with them all.

Review:  As this was a second sit and not on a pet sitting app, you can refer back to our original review from April 2023.

Aug 28 - Sep 15, 2023

Dog sit with Bea in Portland, OR

Overview:  We did a two week sit for our friends John and Mary Anne.  Bea was a 4-year old Wheaton Terrier.  She had a lot of energy and we used all of their routines and techniques they have worked with her to train her to be a good girl.  We had a wonderful time with her and did lots of forest walks along the Reed College campus trails.  She also got to ride with us and meet up with our prior sit friends Forrester and Carole with their dog Rayna for a proper forest hike.

Review:  As they are friends and this wasn't a formal pet sitting app sit, we didn't ask them to provide a written review but they are happily available as a reference.

Aug 18 - Aug 27, 2023

Dog sit with Luna and Bailey in Hillsdale, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit

Overview:  We had a week long sit for Danielle and Caleb at their home in Hillsdale, OR.  Luna was an 8-year old Weimeraner and Bailey was a 12-year old mixed breed.  Though older for bigger dogs, both were in excellent health with lots of energy.  We took them on walks and local hikes during our time caring for them.  They were real snuggle-bugs around the house and loved to get ice cubes as a treat!  Luna liked to curl up in a ball, as Weimeraners like to do.  Bailey was very intelligent.  She seemed to have an intuition as to exactly when we were planning on walking them or taking them hiking.  Likewise, like so many pets, they knew exactly when meal times were. :)  We enjoyed our time with the two of them.

Review:  "10/10 would recommend! Really incredible house/dogsitters . They were great with communication and took wonderful care of our pups! They provided daily updates with photos! Our dogs loved all the hikes they went on. They left our home in perfect shape! Can’t recommend them enough."  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Aug 3 - Aug 10, 2023

Dog sit with Cash, Willy and Dutchy in Hillsboro, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit

Overview:  We had a week long sit for Brian and Barbara at their home in Hillsboro, OR.  Two of their three dogs were Shih Zhu, Cash at 8 years old, Willy at 9 years old.  Their other was a mixed breed, Dutchy at 10 years old.  We kept in contact with them daily and walked their dogs each day.  They all had very different personalities but all were very lovable and we enjoyed our stay caring for them very much.

Review: "Ed & Jeanne were awesome! We could'nt have asked for better folks to watch our furry children. They made sure to update us often and send photos. They walked our dogs everyday and get got lots of personal attention and belly rubs. The house was spotless when we returned and they even washed sheets and made the bed. I would highly recommend Ed & Jeanne to watch your pets."  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

July 14 - July 31, 2023

Dog sit with Leo in Sellwood, Portland, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit.

Overview:  Our sit for Harris and Bonnie with Leo was for two weeks at their home in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland, OR.  Leo was an 8 year old stump Australian Cattle Dog.  Leo was at first a bit shy so we not only did our initial interview in person but also came a night early so we could warm up with him.  But by the time they left in the morning, we were all good friends.  Leo was a wonderful boy.  He was so motivated with his ball and toys.  He would bring them right back to you and wait for another throw.  He was also a great walker and hiker.  We took him on a proper forest hike while we sat for him.  We kept Harris and Bonnie updated and enjoyed the local cuisine in the area.  We really enjoyed our time with Leo at their house.

Review:  "Jeanne and Ed were very professional and organized, first setting up an initial meeting with us and our dog. They arrived on time and were focused on meeting and bonding with our dog. They had well thought out questions that indicated their experience working with animals. When they arrived for the sit they took notes about the dogs schedule and how to operate/maintain the house. They were very flexible in the case of our plans changing. They bonded well with the dog and he recognized them when came for the sit. They sent updates and pictures while we were gone. The house was spotless when we returned. They even had dinner waiting for us upon our return. Our dog was sad that they had left! (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

May 28 - July 9, 2023

Dog sit with Rayna in
Happy Valley, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit.

Overview:  We sat for Rayna for nearly seven weeks in her Happy Valley neighborhood.  Rayna was a full size poodle close to ten years old.  She was one of the best mannered, smart and sweet dogs we have ever had the pleasure to sit for.  We had a wonderful sit for Carole and Forrester who made us feel at ease and over the course of the visit we have since become good friends with both them and our earlier sit with Barbara and Tim (all of whom are friends too).  We took her hiking, she visit our daughter and grandchild and went many places with us in addition to her normal routine.

Review:  "
Jeanne and Ed were amazing.  They went above and beyond our expectations - sent us daily updates of Rayna with pictures.  Gave her tremendous loving/caring, played ball, took her out 1-2 times every day, etc, etc.  Took exceptional care of our house and yard. What more can I say? Anyone who is lucky enough to have them sit for them will be extremely fortunate. They will definitely be invited to return whenever we go on vacation & we consider them new “friends”! Thank you both❤️❤️" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Overview:  We sat for Toby for four weeks in his Happy Valley neighborhood.

May 5 - May 29, 2023

Dog sit with Toby in Happy Valley, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit.

Overview:  We sat for Toby for four weeks in his Happy Valley neighborhood.  Toby was a Springer Spainiel and Poodle mix and just around two years old.  Other then just coming out of his puppy phase and being very active most of the time, Toby was an easy sit.  He had to be kenneled when we were away so we adjusted our schedule to minimize that.  We also had to start the sit split up as both our prior sit and this one overlapped due to flight schedules and changes in departing plans after we scheduled them.  It worked out just fine.  We were able to do a lot of hiking with Toby and he loved it.  We connected with Toby's humans really well and will do future sits with him I sure.

Review:  "We just returned from our vacation, after being gone for 3 1/2 weeks. Jeanne and Ed did a stellar job caring for our dog and we would have them back any time! We received almost daily communication from them, with pictures of our puppy and detailed descriptions of their activities. Our house was spotless when we returned, looked like professional housekeepers had been there. We were a little apprehensive about being away from our puppy for so long but he clearly was in great hands. We highly recommend Jeanne and Ed as sitters and hope to have them back again if we need another housesitter."  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

April 29 - May 8, 2023

Dog sit with Blanch and Rufus in the St. John's neighborhood of Portland, OR as a TrustedHouseSitter sit.

Overview:  We had two weeks sitting Kana and Roy's two doggies.  Blanch was a 2-year-old small boxer mix and Rufus was a 9-year-old American Staffordshire.  Blanch had some medical issue that just came up right before they left and we arrived.  We were able to address all of her incidents and needs and stayed in regular contact with their owners through it.  Their home was a beautiful 3-level condo like home.  They were extemely organized with directions and references to routines.  We had visited them prior to the sit as well.  Rufus could have challenged getting up and down stairs but they had a nice assist harness we could use to help.  Walks were also a bit challenging just because to their age differences but they had a nice dog cart to push to allow Rufus to participate in Blanch's longer walks even though he couldn't walk that far.  We would walk him for awhile and then let him enjoy the ride in the cart.  He loved it.  Both dogs were sweet and cuddled on the couch as well as slept on the bed.  Feedings were completely different and we did an active assist for Rufus which worked well in getting him to eat (he could be fussy).  We had a great time with the dogs.  We also did our first multi-day split so that we could cover both our back-to-back sits when our follow up one extended their trip 3 days early after we had already committed to both of the sits.  That worked just fine even though it was a lot more work for us.  It's the doggies that matter.

Review: "Wow wow wow, Jeanne and Ed went ABOVE & BEYOND x10 for our sit. One of our dogs had sudden health issues right before the stay and Jeanne and Ed had to follow through with the treatment plan. We felt really horrible but they handled it like it was no big deal which allowed us to still enjoy our vacation. Cant put into words how grateful for them we were. They were constantly communicating with us (we asked for frequent updates bc of the health issue) and they were just on top of it. Our house was spotless and ready for us to crash since we got back after midnight. That was incredibly helpful for us. Highly highly recommend!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

April 22 - April 29, 2023

Dog and Horse Sit with Finley, Riley and Prince in the countryside outside of the Bethany area of Portland, OR

Overview:  We had a week at our friend Jen Hagel's home to watch her two dogs and horse.  We had stayed there before but this was our first time watching and caring for everyone on our own.  Finley was 7 years old and Riley was just going out of the puppy phase at 2 years old.  Prince was an older horse that no longer gets ridden.  We had a straight forward routine of feeding Prince in the morning and evening and during that process, we would also play chuckit with Riley and tug-o-war with Finley if he was up for it.  Riley would dip into the natural spring on the property when he got hot from chasing the chuckit ball.  Luckily Jen had a mudroom so he could dry off too.  We didn't have to walk the dogs, they had free use of a large yard and then during feeding time for Prince, enjoyed the back pasture too.

Review:  "We recently had Ed & Jeanne over to house/pet sit for a week at our little 3-acre farm. We have one energetic two-year-old golden retriever who wants ALL the attention, one five-year-old mix who is very chill unless he sees a squirrel, and one thirty-one-year-old semi-toothless perennially worried horse on a mash diet. Ed and Jeanne read our instructions and asked questions, so they knew the routine for everyone. I was really impressed with how they spent so much time interacting with all the animals, which was important to me. They were truly there to make the animals comfortable, not just for feeding. They sent updates and pictures every day - playing with the pups, snuggling with the pups, feeding soft treats to the horse (who is generally rather standoffish with non-family members, but he seemed to like these two!). The golden retriever loves to chase his ball in the pasture and jump in the creek to cool off. Extraordinarily, the house AND the dog were very clean when we got home! The pups were happy to see us, but I think a bit disappointed to see Ed and Jeanne leave… They took great care of the house and the animals, and we hope to have them back again soon!" (contact provided on request)

April 8 - April 22, 2023

Dog, Cat and House Sit with Nani Bear and CooCoo Kitty in SE Division St neighborhood of Portland, OR

Overview:  We had two weeks in Lisa's one bedroom apartment where we watched her English Lab, Nani Bear and her cat CooCoo Kitty.  Nani Bear was around 7 years old and CooCoo Kitty only around 2 years old.  Nani Bear was very sweet and sensative.  She was very food motivated and liked her three daily walks.  She liked to do a lot of sniffing but was good on a leash.  CooCoo Kitty was outdoor part of the time and inside the rest.  She would go back and forth and would even come if you called her.  She didn't stay out at night time.  Both of them were easy enough to watch and we had a wonderful time desipite some cold and wet weather.  We did have a chance to take Nani Bear out hiking on two of the days and she was good in the car and loved the hiking.  We tried out our doggie hammock set up for the back seat area in our SUV and it worked great.  We also like to be accomodating as possible with out sits and Lisa's flight home was delayed be many hours from our original plan.  Though we had another local sit, we were able to split up and provide coverage for both of our sits.  We gave Lisa a ride both to and from the airport so she didn't have to incur Uber costs.

Review:  Jeanne & Ed did an excellent job pet/house sitting for a 2 week vacation. They did a pre-visit to meet me and get a preview plus take Nani for a walk with me to learn her particulars. They stayed in excellent contact with me and really helped me out when my flight was delayed on the way home. I would definitely recommend them & would invite them back for sure!   (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

March 25 - April 4, 2023

Dog, Cat and House Sit with Clover, Lumi, Linus, Garfield and Maple in Hollywood District of Portland, OR

Overview:  This was our first official TrustedHouseSitter sit after relocating back to the USA from Mexico and starting our pet sitting full time lifestyle.  Dave and Maria took the family on Spring Break to Mexico while we watched their pet family.  Clover was a 7-year mix, Lumi was a 1.5-year mix with some herding breed, Linus and Garfield were 1.5 year old cats who were nearly identical and brothers and Maple was a Norwegian that we actually never really saw except under their bed (as they warned us would happen).  The dogs were very active and though cold and rainy out, we took them for walks to the dog park to play with other dogs leash free.  All of the cats were indoor cats but the two brothers were quite social and good lap cats already.  The family got back about three hours earlier than expected for the transition but fortunately we had cleaned and packed early so we were ready anyway.

Review: "Jeanne and her husband Ed were quite possibly the best sitters we’ve had so far. They communicated well, prior to the sit and during. Our animals absolutely fell in love. At one point our dog who is a clingy little guy to us, sat at the door whining until Ed came back in the house! The animals were happy and healthy. Our house was probably cleaner than we left it! Having them at our home made for a stress free vacation. Everything went amazingly well and we wouldn’t hesitate to book Jeanne and Ed again. Thank you both immensely!" (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Nov 19 - Dec 1, 2022

Dog and House Sit with Pepsi in San Miguel Allende, Mexico

Overview:  This sit came as a recommendation from from our Go Lite Facebook Group owners (and friends) who thought we would be a good fit for Jerry and Carole, who had a trip planned for 10 days.  We took the bus out from Guadalajara and watched their dog, Pepsi for the duration.  Pepsi was a 16-year poodle who was deaf and a bit blind but still a fun little boy.  He required one pill in the morning, which we could easily disguise with a treat.  He did several walks during the day but they were very short.  The house was an immaculate villa with a pool and hot tub and they had a maid twice a week so we only had to keep our own space organized and supervise the coming and going of maid, pool and yard maintenance people.

Review:  "Dear Jeanne and Ed, This is just a brief note to thank you again for watching after our San Miguel home and miniature poodle, Pepsi, during our recent 3 week trip.  I can’t imagine anyone taking more diligent care of both.  Pepsi is still looking around trying to find you after being spoiled by your constant attention.  Before your arrival, we were already confident in turning over our home to you because of your referral and recommendation by Tim and Amy, house sitters whom we and other sitters trust implicitly. But from the moment we met you, our expectations were exceeded.  Your engaging personalities, attention to detail and obvious competence in managing a home immediately made us comfortable and enabled us to enjoy our travels to see family without worry. We look forward to your return to our home in the future, both as house-sitters and new friends. If you ever need references, please let us know or have them call us. Carole and Jerry, The Sanders' (contact provided on request)

Dog and House Sit with Rocco in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Overview:  We did a formal TrustedHouseSitters.com pet sit for Jim and Lou for 8 days in Puerto Vallarta at their home.  Rocco was a pug that required no special care other than the basic walking, feeding and attention needs.

Review: "Jeanne and Ed took care of our pug for a week at the apartment we were renting in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They did a fantastic job and we knew he was well taken care of the entire time. By the end of the trip, our dog had completely fallen in love with them. We would definitely recommend Jeanne and Ed and would be thrilled to have them take care of our dog again in the future."  (can see on TrustedHouseSitters.com, contact provided on request.)

Dog and House Sit with Lucy in Bucerias, Mexico

Overview:  This was a word-of-mouth referral, we didn't know Wayne and Lisa before taking on this 5 week house sit.  Lucy was a 2-year old rescue dachshund mix that required no medication but had a very specific meat-only diet that we learned on the first day.

Review:  "I want to send a HUGE thank you along with a bucketful of Lucy kisses to Jeanne Welter and her hubby Ed for the love and care of our little Lucy!  We are so grateful for them coming into our home and loving our baby.  A million thank you's just won't cover it." - Lisa (contact provided on request)

Dog Sit with Jose in Guadalajara, Mexico

Overview:  We dog sat Jose, a min-Schnauzer mix, who was a rescue dog.  We contacted his owners through a Facebook request as a last minute dog watch and then continued to watch Jose eight different times.  They eventually all moved to Puerto Vallarta but even then we came and stayed at their place to visit once.

Review:  "Jeanne and Ed have watched Jose for us over the past couple of years and we feel very lucky to have found them. They give him a lot of love and make sure he is safe. We had multiple instances where we needed to leave him with them while he needed medicine, and they had no problem administering it appropriately. They have always been so kind and gracious with their time. All we care about when we have to leave our dog somewhere is that he is well taken care of, and with Jeanne and Ed we never have to worry." - Marlena (contact provided on request)

Dog Sit with Molly, Musa (and previously Luki the first two years) in South of Spain.

Overview:  These were word-of-mouth contacts when we lived in Almunecar, Spain.  The Swedish family whose dogs we watched for four straight summers at their villa in the mountains of Southern Spain, were once competitive dog breeders.  They were frustrated with sitters not being responsible and once we did our sit, Krister knew immediately that the dogs had been taken care of and were loved, as was their villa.

Review:  "Ed and Jeannie Welter have been looking after our 3 dogs in our house in the country near Almunecar Spain.  This has been done approximately one month each year 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and on various occasions shorter periods.  They are extremely reliable and caring dog watchers. they have fed and exercised the dogs and spent lots of time just socialising. We were very happy and confident when the dogs were in their care. In addition they looked after our house and extensive land. We can really recommend them to anyone who really cares for their dogs". - Krister (contact provided on request)

Dog Sit with Tiffany and Lily in La Herradura, Spain

Overview:  I knew Stuart through bicycling and they needed a pet sitter during a trip and asked us.  They have a beach villa with two pure bred mini-schnauzers.  We stayed in their villa with Tiffany and Lily.

Review:  "Ed & Jeanne looked after our 2 miniature schnauzers in our house on several occasions when we took holidays.  They are kind, thoughtful and very obviously dog lovers.  Tiffy & Lily were, without failure, very happy to see them and sad to see them go.  We only wish that they were still here to cover when we go away.  They are extremely trustworthy and we had no concerns when we were away.  We recommend them wholeheartedly." - Ann & Stuart (contact provided on request)

Dog sit with Turkish

Overview:  We dog sat for a couple we knew from living in Almunecar, Spain.  Turkish was a Visla with some anxiety.  We watched him in our home and did lots of walks and play during out time with him.

Review:  "In 2016 we went on a 12 day trip away from our home in Almuñécar, Spain and needed someone to take care of our Vizsla (dog) Turkish. We found Ed and Jeanne Welter. They took him into their home as a family member and took really great care of him. I would fully recommend them to care for pets. They are very caring people and love animals. Feel free to contact me as a reference." - John (contact provided on request)

Dec 14 - Dec 28 2015 with Frida and Mikkel

Overview:  We were asked to dog sit for a Swedish family's two dogs while they were away over Christmas holidays.  Their villa, in the mountains of Southern Spain was fairly remote.  Frida was a small mix breed and Mikkel looked like a carin Terrier but was probably a mix of several breeds.  In addition to caring for the dogs and the house, we had use of their car in order to get groceries in the valley below.

Review:  When we did this dog sit, we never thought of asking for a review back then but Lassa (their son who helped us with the overview of what needed done with the villa) can be contacted for reference, upon request.

May 7 - May 12 2014 with Boris and Lily

Overview:  This was another word-of-mouth dog and house sit in Portland, OR.  Boris wass a Rat Terrier and Lily was a rescue mix of mini-Schnauzer and poodle.  We stayed in their historic home in Irvington area of Portland.

Review: As this was our first dog and house sit, we didn't ask for a specific review but I have contact Laura and she would be happy to provide references (on request)
